Hey guys,

So tomorrow I'm going to change my thermostat and I had a few last questions.

1st question: Can I re-use the same the coolant that I drained out? The problem is I only have about 1 liter of G12 and the dealer wont be open tomorrow to get any more...

2nd question: When I'm refilling the coolant do I do it through the overflow tank or is there a place on the top of the rad where I fill it directly? Do I put it all in one shot or do I put like half, run the car to let it circulate, then put the rest? What exactly is the procedure for this?

1. make sure you drain it so nothing gets in it and use a clean container.

2. yes fill it through the overflow tank but undo the 3 screws cuz you'll need to get some of the air out of the system by raising the reservoir. for example, poor coolant in and it'll look full, raise the tank, lower it again and poof it'll be low on coolant again lol. put everything in and then let the car run.

When you're filling the system with G12 from the dealership, do you have to mix it with water or is it already mixed 50/50?

 

G12 is full strength, so top off with water after u use all the coolant u have.

Just to confirm, you need to use distilled water with the G12 right?

 

yes ...distilled water. you can get it vons or any grocery store

 

It's not necessary but it's not a bad idea, there's no shop I've ever herd of using it but it will be fine either way
