To refinish my messed up rims or junk em?
These S4 rims were on the car when I bought it, and they were seriously messed up.
The think is, I am about to wrap them UHP's because my right front tire has two huge bubbles in them, one on the inside and one on the outside, needless to say It has to be taken care of right away.
Anyway, I am pretty sure I can blast them with abrasive, then seal then paint them, but I am sure people here know more about re-finishing wheels than I do. So opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-Brian

I would, but I need wheels lol. If I ever get any more spare $ to get some lightweight wheels, I will consider it. Why, are S4 rims that rare that you would want them in the condition they are in?
I think you should try refinishing them before you scrap them. I refinished mine before painting and it wasn't that hard to do.

I just did a similar refinish, if you have a little time and are willing to do the work I'd say it's worth it.
I used a little filler and did some sanding, finished off with 400 grit wet sand then sprayed with WURTH silver wheel paint (rattle can) and clear laquer from Pelican parts. This paint seems pretty durable and is 95% match to the original color.
I had completely sanded my paint off, or atleast down to the OEM primer and I got away with one can paint and one can clear (about $45 shipped). From 10 feet, they look brand new, super close they still look good.

I've read just about every write-up on repairing the wheels, but I just didn't know about mine because I am missing chunks off the lip on some and very deep gouges on some other. But i guess I can try and fix them first, and if they don't come out perfect then I can sell them for at least a bit more than what I could get for them now.
What type of filler can I use if the gouges are un-sandable? I know bondo won't work, preferably something that wont fly off my wheel at 1000fps

Also, I could just have them powder coated for $20 a wheel (buddy works at a job-shop) but all he can do is black. Would that look ricey on my car? I would also have to give the rims to him w/o tires because a bake wouldn't be too friendly to my tires.
My car needs a ton of bodywork, mostly on the bumper which I will probably have to replace anyway, so I was going to paint the car eventually. I was thinking of a *gulp* matte or semi-gloss paint, I am not a huge fan of super-shiny paint-jobs. Now that might be crossing the line lol
