HEEELLLPPP AUDI FORUM!!!! Its getting crazy cold here in Indianapolis and I need to change out my blower motor. I have the Haynes manual but it doesn't have instructions on removing the glovebox in the Audi. The farthest I've gotten was removing the end cap on the passenger side which isn't much progress. Could you guys upload pics and give me instructions on how to remove this? Thanks

 

once you get that off, then open the glovebox itself, and pop the pins out that keep it from falling completely down (they should just pull out with some force) and there will be a bunch of random bolts all over the dash frame, look around for all of those that look like they would be connected to the glovebox, and remove them. they are for the most part very hard to get at, but with some perseverance it will come off.

i had to do this to get at the A/C drain that was plugged which flooded the footwells of my car

Where exactly are the pins located? Are they through the side part of the end cap once its removed? Or are they in plain view before the end cap is removed? And would you happen to have pics? I've over here racking my brain trying to figure it out. Thanks

 

the pins are where the glove box pivots on the bottom, they are kind of tricky to get at but if you look behind the box itself you should be able to see them, and stick a screwdriver back there and pop them out, and the glovebox should fall down.

 

On my '99 the hinges are on springs, and can be pulled on to release the glove box completely and allow it to drop down all the way. If I remember right you can even just pull on the glove box harder and it will open.

 

Your speaking of the 96 Audi A4 right? Well I just received my part today and I went out in the garage to try and take down the glove box. WHat I did was take the two screws off on the end cap on the passenger side and the glove box is ready to drop...only thing is that I think there is one more screw which is near the outside knee of where the passenger would sit. Other than that the glovebox wont budge. I know if there is some way for me to make the door swing past the stops I could get to that screw but I can not figure out how to do it. Any help folks?

 

you have to take the stops out. just pull on them and they sh ould pop out

 

Ok so I FINALLY got the glovebox down thanks. Then I get to the Blower Motor and start removing the 3 screws...then I get to the last screw which is on top and I can't even get my hand up there to remove it. I saw there looking around, trying to fit my tool in there, and pulled a little bit...but I I could not get to that last screw. Any help guys?

 

Ok So now I guess I'm at step irritated lol. So I get the bracket that is holding the blower motor in place unscrewed and once I do that I think I'm home free w/ taking out the old blower motor. But once again it is something else prohibiting me to take the motor out. Its some brace that is connected to the top dash thats in the way of me pulling the motor out. Ive sat there pulling and yanking but no good. Any help w/ this one guys?

 

i guess i'd have to look at it. mines a 98, and once i unscrewed the motor it popped right out, and all you had to do was unhook the harness. i wouldnt think a 96 would be that different?
