Removing stock airbox too...

Default Removing stock airbox too...

Removing the stock airbox and added just a "injen" cone air filter i had layin around i had never used before so i hooked it up and my "MAF" is just chillen does anybody have any pics on hookin this all up the right way? And i did this becuz my stock airbox had a huge crack in it.. And i seen at oreilys auto parts they sell "MAF" adapters and what not to hook up a "cold air intake" any suggestions? Greatly appreciated!

You have to take the entire airbox out, inlcuding the bottom portion, and stick the filter right on the end of the MAF.

And then you'll be wondering why your car never seems to run right, if you're using just a cone filter you'll need some straight tubing right before the maf to stabilize the air flow.

Didn't say it was a good idea, he just asked how to do it

Here you go, in my case the heat shield is holding the filter in very firmly, I don't know how this will turn out for you.

Blown any ICM's lately? There's 2 things wrong with that setup, 3 if you count the gaping hole in the heatshield.

Nope car has run fine now for several months.

What are these things that are wrong, what gaping hole?
To be clear I took the intake snorkel out so the filter is visible.

I was talking about the hole for the snorkel, if the snorkel is there there then it's all good. First thing is you should never put a filter directly on a MAF like I said before, it screws with the readings. It might run 'fine', but it's not ideal. Second is the ICM needs to be solidly mounted in the path of flowing air, otherwise it could overheat and won't last nearly as long. I have a feeling the majority of people who complain about the ICM dying aren't running it in it's stock position because I see it left just dangling so often.

Hmm with first point on fitting filter directly on maf, this can be fixed, how big of a hose do you recommend before the maf? I was thinking 5cm? This leaves some room for a bigger filter cause mine at the moment is to the very end, if I were to put a straight 5cm hose/pipe before the maf I would have to replace the filter with a smaller one.
