I'm happy.
So after 3 hours of cleaning the grease and everything in there the abs light went away. There was grease in the cylinder that goes into the side of the caliper that hits the ring. So I think that may be all that was wrong hope it doesn't come back on anytime soon. I'll post some pics later so you Guys can see Metalman I'll probably need some help from you later I'm thinking of putting a symphony II in at a later point Thanks for the help. |
Glad your ABS light went away! And sure I'd be happy to help, I've done lots of electrical work. Although I haven't had much experience with anything other than aftermarket radios.

i just got done with doing an outer boot and of course, didnt pay attention to which way the spacers went on - i read online that the plastic spacer goes on first with the smaller side facing the engine and the metal curved one facing the joint. i then saw a photo showing them the other way around and was told that way also but didnt know if any issues would occur??? - i took the car for a ride after and no noises so idk

After doing my brake job yesterday, I discovered torn boots too... fortunately it's on the small ends of the outer boots, so all the grease is still being contained within, and hopefully not much contamination getting inside there.
I'm hoping my outer CV joints are still good and serviceable inside, but if I do have to replace them, I've read in my searches here and other Audi forum sites that changing the whole axle assemblies is discouraged due to the 3rd party aftermarket axles being poor quality and not lasting nearly as long as OEM... and OEM axle assemblies are way expensive. Does that also apply to Meyle brand CV joints or axle assemblies (significantly more affordable than OEM)? Or is Meyle good to go on their axle assemblies and CV joints? |
