replacing ECT sensor...quick question

Default replacing ECT sensor...quick question

how important is the little metal retaining clip??? when i was removing the old sensor, one of the legs of the clip broke off. when i got my new sensor, i guess it was supposed to come with a new one? it didnt...can i drive my car without this clip in there? it would be nice if someone called me, or texted me..ill be outside and i need to get this back together ASAP. its 20 degrees here...please help!!! 757-615-6957

The electrical connector's clip? If the connector is willing to stay on then you'll be okay. You can use a small (removable) dab of glue or whatever you need to do to get it to stay on if you need to.

not the the electrical clip. its like a horseshoe shaped clip. i cant figure out exactly how it all goes back together and stays snug...im doing something wrong....anyone know where there may be a diagram or something for this?

Everything using the clip you describe needs it, badly, as far as I know.

clip is a must.. or you could let coolant go everywhere. its like a 3 dollar clip go to audi and get one shouldnt be too bad, they keep them in stalk.. or i would hope so.

got it they had one at NAPA right down the road...you were wrong about the 3$ though.....its was .30$ haha was hoping the sensor would help out w my heat, but it doesnt. so im starting to think it may be the heater control valve..... any way to test this? even after the car is warmed up, and driven for 20 min, w the heat on full blast, there is still very little coolant running through the heater core....any ideas??

the car doesnt overheat...im thinkin the valve on the heater control valve isnt opening. is there any way to manually open it? and where is it at?

have to flush your heater coer to start with and replace the ect which you already did..
so flush the core do you know how?
