just get your flywheel resurfaced or w/e, dont buy a new one... it'll save you $800 (should be able to get it done for 60-70 bucks.. cash)
Go stage 2 or higher for your clutch... it allows you to have more fun later, the extra few dollars now is well worth it
oh.. and check for oil leaks while in there.

I already bought a Stage 1 spec with lwfl.

The 1.8T isn't that bad, you just have to take out the back subframe bolts and let the trans hang down (it won't fall) then use a big *** extention to get at the bell housing bolts. The bottom bell housing bolts you have to get from the engine side, if the subframe is in your way loosen the front subframe bolts, but don't remove them.
Try not to crack open the hydraulic slave cylinder line if you don't have to, audi clutches are a bitch to bleed.

I did a clutch job on my jetta a few weeks ago.. was pretty easy. 5 months ago I paid a shop $500 in labor to replace the clutch on my a4, cheap, but I wish I did it myself though. If it's anything like the jetta, which I'm sure it is, it's not that bad of a job. Having extra sets of hands and a lift will save you a lot of time and trouble.
