Default rings shot in b5 1.8t

just found out after replacing the turbo that the rings in my A4 are shot. where is the best place to get rings and/or a piston ring kit? im gonna maintain stock bore and stroke unless i could find a stroker kit for cheap. where is a good place to find parts like this? thanks

are you doing the work yourself? theres no reason to get new pistons unless there is something wrong with the ones in there now, or you have to overbore. there is no such thing as a 'cheap' stroker kit.

you can get rings just about anywhere. there is a sticky at the top of the forum with vendors listed in it.

these are the tolerances for the cylinders

Well damn, since you're going that route, why not new valves, lifters, and springs, all upgrades of course, so you can up the revs a little... wink wink, nudge nudge...

haha. No need to do that unless running a turob big enough to go beyond 8k rpms, mainly seeing that the stock valvetrain is good for 7500-8k.

When replacing the rings you will also need to replace the rod bearings seeing that you will have to pull the rods out to get the pistons out. At that point you might as well be replacing the stock rods with a set of IE rods.

If you need help getting parts let me know.
