Default Roof Rack - Euro Look?

I know some of you guys run roof racks on your B5 and like the look of it. I know that I personally run it because this is part of the Euro style that I see bunch of guys in Europe run.

However, I was browsing through a blog today (Hellaflush or something else) and it was brought to my attention that the roof rack is a "USDM look".

Is it really a USDM look? I honestly always thought that roof racks were an Euro thing and bunch of the JDM guys were just trying to mimic the look on their Hondas.

Am I the only one that thinks racks is an Euro thing?

I thought you put roof racks on your car because you use them, not to look cool. But hey, people buy Hummers and never go off-road.

I personally am looking to get a set of racks real soon for my bikes and a car top carrier. It'd save a lot of room if I could put all my climbing gear in a car top.

Personally I think they ruin the look of a car. Takes the sleekness away.

see i feel like during the summer months, i dont care for the looks of them with a car in summer mode.. dropped, with wheels, etc.. however if you use it for a purpose then obviously its function over form.. However i gotta say, i love the looks of them in the winter, whether their being used to throw your board in or not, it just accents the winter mode in my opinion.. i know ive seen a few black b5s on vortex running them for a winter setup and it just looks perfect to me.

no more than that i would think. I got my Votex bars on craigslist for $140. I use mine to carry my tri bike because its too big and awkward shaped to fit in the car. That said, I think they look sweet too
