Default rust starting... opinions?

so my car has 163k miles on er now, and im getting rust in a few spots and im unsure of what to do rite now. i love the car and i want to keep it a few more years, but idk if i want to spend time and money to get the rust spots fixed up, who knows the engine could die in 15k miles and it would be all for nothing just to have the car look nice, or i could leave it go and by the time i want a different car it could be rusted all to ****. i can put up some pics of the spots if you guys want i just want to know if you guys think its worth it. thanks

No one can decide what YOU should do with YOUR car. If you can find someone to fix/respray/blend the bad spots for cheap then go for it.

The way I see it, if a B5 has noticeable body rust then it's likely had a hard life or wasn't taken care of properly so who knows how long it has left. The only rusty B5s I see on the road are beat to hell and broken in more ways than one, I've never seen a B5 that was nice apart from rust. If it's bad enough I would just leave it.

they arent big spots there are a few spots dime sized, just staring under the paint, and a few paintless spots just starting.

Sand with 320 or finer grit sand paper, fill with polyester finishing putty, sand that with 320, spray with primer, cover with touch-up paint. You can also skip the primer step if you want to since the spots are so small.

that would work really well for the spot behind my driver side wheel, the other spots arent going through the metal yet, and most will be sitting behind the side moldings

remember, rust is the cancer of car bodies. Its best to "cut" it out completely while it is still small and manageable. Otherwise it will get worse and it will spread.

If it's actually eating through, then what Beau said. If it's pretty much just surface rust, putty and paint is fine.

thats what im gonna do with the spot behind the driver side front wheel, down where the black part of the car is. im gonna cut and sand, putty and then prob put spray in bed liner or something over it to blend it in.
