I got a 2000 Audi A4 1.8T and my battery died and now my headunit is on safemode. I don't have the number to unlock it because I bought the car used. Can anyone get the number for me? I have the VIN # Model and AUZ # off of the Symphony headunit.

Please help I got no music in the car lol

 

Check with the dealer. They have given me the code for two different headunits for free. Your results may vary depending on your local dealer

 

the dealer will charge you an hour of labor to get the code. there was a post online that had difference unlock codes with the different radios, unfortunately i cant find it at the moment. if you look hard enough online you might.

 

Some dealers will charge - some will not. Worth a try to call them.

 

yeh I tried calling them but like ghost6303 said they want to charge an hour of labor which is $125. I really dont want to pay them that to give me the code to my headunit, that just sounds stupid. But I was wondering if someone worked at a Audi dealership and could get me it if I provided all the info for my car...

 

each and every radio doesnt have its own unique code, its only a 4 digit number so they couldnt possibly do that. the codes are only different between different models of radios (eg. bose, symphony)

meaning, if you get the part number off your radio, and find someone with the same part number, your code will be the same as theirs. i believe my code is 1124, you can try that for the hell of it and see if it works.

yeh I found it, thanks anyways tho....it was kinda stupid tho there was a sticker with a hand written number that was taped on top of the headunit and I put it in and it worked.

 

cool - my code was written on a sticker and stuck in my radio manual. Kind of dumb for someone to stick it on the radio - since it defeats the purpose of having the code.

How can I get the code?
I just bought the car with no manuals and local dealer gave me a BS about hooking up computer to reset it for like $160.
Mercedes is giving the codes for free. Even when the VIN didn't produce the right radio code, the MB Service Adviser went with me to the car, used his keys to pull the radio and check the serial number. All for free. I write the codes on pink slips. This way they are secured and no stranger is going to see them.
What is the procedure to enter? I bought car manual, but no radio manual.
