OKi doki bois,

When ever the car sits for a bit and i go start it . the engine revs at 1-1.3 RPMS. its got like a screaming noise at it as well for at least 1-3 minutes before it stops. this only happens when it has been parked for like 2 or more hours or when the engine is cold. By the way i got an aftermarket Ractive Intake.

I was doing some tamperin LOL! and when i started it it did the thing and then i disconnected the MAF sensor off the intake and it stopped. so i thought it was the sensor. i replaced the sensor. got a smoking good deal for it. changed it and let it sit. Started it and still the same thing.

Anyone else got any ideas. This "Noise" / Rev only happens at cold starts. Need a lil help. PLz.

 

I'm guessing it's the secondary air pump.

 

what mad cow said. it's normal unless you get a code for a bad SAP

 

my car does the exact same thing
i contacted my mechanic, who works exclusively on Audi's, and he told me that the car does this to warm up the engine initially. I trust him on this only because my car doesn't do it in the summer.
(where i live, it can reach 100 degrees. 100 degrees + black car = hot engine)

So my opinion, maybe ask a mechanic if what i said is of any relevance.

 

my car did dot his in the summer i know a guy who is parting out a a4 96 and an 01 both in in decent condition. which SAP will fit? if any can fit? also jus now lol i went to turn my wipers on and i heard a squeeking i thought it was the wipers but i pulled over lifted them both up and it still makes the noise while they are on. my friend said that the linkage looks a lil bent (he has a 96 a4 2.8) but i couldnt tell the difference

 

Also the SAP the hose that goes up to the stock intake what happens to that after an aftermarket is installed? (this a dumb question but when i got the car the Whole that goes up was jus there not connected to anything. Could this be the cause?)

 

you should put a breather filter on that tube once you install CAI. autozone has them

 

my car does this everymorning when its cold. its just a start up feature to warm up the engine.
pretty much every car does this. goes up to 1-1.2 for about a minute, then drops back down to about 800 or so.
