audidiy.com is a legit site, I've used it numerous times. Good stuff. I know what you mean by that looking like spam aha, don't even worry about it!

you never said where you are. you could be in japan for all we know. i dont know of many good paint shops in japan.

if you want to get the whole car resprayed, its going to be $3k minimum for a quality job. maaco always looks like garbage.

some common tools you need are a set of sockets from 8mm to 22mm. 3/8 is a good ratchet size to start out with. once you get into it you'll start to need 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 ratchets. a couple set of wrenches are a must too. same size as the sockets. a set of torx bits, allen bits, 12 point sockets and allen bits. those are pretty much the fundamentals i can think of for most jobs on these cars. oh and misc. things like PB, MAP gas, beer, anti seize. last but not least a 3 ton jack and a small 1/.5 ton jack and a pair of 3 ton jack stands. try not to buy new and stick with craftsman, mac tools, etc

Personally, for what you spent on it already ($2500 was a little high with the problems) I'd get your buddy with the Jetta to come over and look over his shoulder a couple times. He'd prolly do it for free since he loves working on 'em. You'll learn at lot that way.

Then, in the spring and when its all fixed you can sell it you still want to, knowing its a good car and you did the work.
