Selling my Audi
Well, the time has finally come to sell my A4, and I have no idea what to (reasonably) expect to get for it. I was wondering if you guys have any idea what I should be looking for in a private party sale.
Here are the pertinent details of the car:
2001 A4 2.8Q with 108K miles. Manual transmission. Loaded except for ESP and Xenon.
Transimission was replaced last year with a rebuilt model with 65K miles on it
Both CV Axles replaced last year
New Spark Plugs
Timing Belt has been done
Exterior is clean with the exception of some scratches on rear bumper. Interior has one cigarette burn on the driver's side A-frame (previous owner) and is pristine other than that. No cracks or significant wear on the leather. Car gets hand waxed regularly, frequent Lexol, and is garaged 100% of the time.
Valve cover seals are slightly (and I mean slightly, like a drop per week) leaking.
I am thinking I should ask $5K and hope for somewhere between $4K and $5K. What do you guys think? Also, I have never sold a car before so any suggestions anyone has regarding the best way to go about it and what to watch out for would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I think you ought to be able to get $5k without too much trouble, especially with the timing belt being done already. I paid more than that for mine last year with the original timing belt and clutch. As for tips on selling a car, be up front with the potential buyer but don't shoot yourself in the foot either.

Of course, you could always go to kbb.com and check yourself.

KBB is just something to gauge what you want by. When it comes to selling it all comes down to if you have want the buyer is looking for and how long you can hold out before you have to sell. I just bought an 2008 S6 for 5k under KBB value. Why? The seller could get what he was looking for so he had to drop his price.
Bottom line is use KBB as a guide, not as what you will get for your ride.
