Default Shifting my 01 1.8T

Hey guys, I'm curious about where your clutches start to grab. Mine seems to grab pretty late. It it an Audi thing? I just picked up the car this weekend, so I'm not used to it yet. Please give me some insight. Also, what RPM are most of you shifting at for regular driving. Thanks!

Yea I'm serious. It's an honest question, if you don't want to answer it, ignore it. I've had the car for 6 days and never owned a manual tranny, is that ok with you?

well the lower in the RPM range you shift the better gas mileage you will get... I usually shift around 3 tp 3.5K rpm for everyday driving

It catches late for me too, I've also heard it's an Audi thing.

As far as shifting goes, I usually shift at 3000 rpm but sometimes lower if I want to save gas like 2500.

I appreciate all the help. The only other stick I've driven since I learned how 15 years ago is my Dad's 05 Z06, and it drives a "little" bit differently than my A4. I'm starting to get the hang of it though. Definately the lower RPM's help keep it smooth. I'm open to any other tips and advice regarding my new car. Great forum!

He learned how to drive a stick shift 15 years ago but the only stick shift car he has driven since he learned was his dad's 05 z06. It makes sense... read it again.
