short shifter help
#2
ill see if i can get a pic probably tomorrow or wednesday but from what i think is that you still have the push down lock out in. when i did my install i ended up deleteing the push down, so it was just the ball and stick and the associated retaining clips.

Will it not go into reverse because you can't push the shifter rod down? If thats the case, you need to enlarge and/or grease the slot in the shifter rod. IIRC the slot is on the passenger's side and the lil spring loaded pin needs to slide in that slot freely.
If you CAN push the rod down, but still can't get it into reverse, you need to adjust the connection between the blue adapter that looks like a tuning fork and the actual shift linkage. They're connected with a short allen bolt and the little half-round plate. its a PITA but well worth the hassle once you have smooth shifts.

I bought a ebay SS awhile back and had the same problem. you just have to adjust the shifter right to left. but the ebay SS wont have a push down lock out because of the bottom shift bar isnt bent in an angle like your stock one. the only shifter that i know is good is the jhm shifter. I got it for my car and LOVE IT!!!

MY ebay SS has pushdown lockout.
Lately though it has been more difficult to get it into reverse. I somewhat remember it being increasingly difficult before I upgraded shifters though, so I'm not sure if its poor adjustment or something else.
