I chromed the lower grill. I like it, and it will do till I get a FMIC.

 

I restored an s4 grille I got for like $12 just by quickly sanding down spots that needed it and sprayed it with plasti dip. also the badgless grille I have came in a lighter color and I did the same with that. neither had any chips. now on my avant I have an a4 grille that was plasti dipped (with the rings and trim) and a clear coat over it and I also haven't gotten any chips.. the avant does have a bra with a meshy cover that goes over the grille so it might help some
I'm glad AF doesn't all want home depot chicken mesh over their grilles any more like months ago..

Ha, I remember that epidemic. I just re sprayed my stock grille with black spray paint. I can't think of the paint brand, but I did maybe 5 or 6 coats, no clear, and it's holding up quite well. I'm sure I'll respray everything, including the lowers, come spring time. Winter beats everything up.

Edit: I didn't mod the grille in anyway, just re sprayed whatever was black, black.
