Default Skid pan / belly pan replacement . . .

Last weekend I had to drive from Colorado to Arizona on short notice, so I didn't have time to prep the car. Before driving back across the desert, I had Jim Mabry of Quantum Mechanics in Tucson change my oil.

When I went to pick the car up he informed me that the belly pan was only shoved into place and not secured! I then went to Audi of Tucson, who quoted me about $370 to replace the pan, and fit all new fasteners.

Since they didn't have the pan, and I was leaving for Colorado in a few hours, I just stuck the old piece into the trunk, where it now resides.

I am now shopping for the parts and I'm getting conflicting numbers on the fasteners that I'll need. The Audi store said I'd need 6 / 6 / 2 on the speed nuts & two types of dowel pins, but the sets I'm seeing on eBay seem to be 4 / 3 / 3.

Does anyone know the correct numbers of fasteners, and does anyone have an opinion on the OEM versus the Mechanex after-market pans that are available?

I will be leaving the country for a holiday in London, Dublin, and the west of Ireland in a couple of weeks, and I'd love to order the parts just before I go, and have them awaiting me on my return.

By the way, shopping on-line, even for the greater quantities suggested by Audi of Tucson, yields a savings of about 45% . . .

As ever, any in-sights will be greatly appreciated.

ECS has that covered pretty well. All the hardware, and two kinds of pans.

No idea, but if you have high miles on your car, how bad could the aftermarket one be?

If you wanna spend that much, might as well get a Diesel Geek one.

Are you lowered?

Default My car is box stock . . .

. . . but it is fitted with the factory sport suspension.

I am guessing the pan I've got is the original, so a stock replacement in lieu of the aluminium one should suffice . . .

Hey I just got mine replaced with ECS Tuning's aftermarket Belly Pan. It was $99 including shipping. I got OEM fasteners from ECS as well it was about $20-$25. They just threw it in the box.

Check out my photos! I just completed refurbishing the car. Bought it at 120K miles, year 2000 Quattro 1.8T

That's a damn nice car! I like a well done stock, and that's done well.

On one picture you said your retouched your back bumper. What/how did you do it? I need to do some bumper work too.
