Slight oil smell when at a stop. What could this be?
Hey guys, i have a 1998 Audi a4 Avant and among the many things that i need to fix before the winter this one is the most ambiguous.
I often at a stop smell burning oil coming through the air vents, but there is no noticeable oil leak under the car after it has been sitting for a substantial period of time. It is noticeably stronger after the Audi has been sitting for three to four days nd then drive it. I have only a moderate understanding of mechanical goings-on so i figured i would resort to the experts for advice!
I'm thinking (hoping) its either a valve cover gasket, or maybe a cam seal. My main question is, do the b5 2.8l v6 30v engines have a tendency to have a slight oil leak problem causing the above mentioned symptoms? If so what can i expect in terms of repair costs?
Thank you for your time!
