Some advise with cams and rings please.
Alright, I just (as of today) dropped another 2500 into my car for timing belt (everything) new pump, tensioner, all that jazz, rotors, pads, and calipers for fronts and back, had the CEL checked and cleared. Now, the stealership said they found that cams and seals or rings needed to be replaced?! The car has 117k on it. I was just curious as to 1) how much it would be to replace those. 2) How hectic it would be to DIY and 3) How much time (BALLPARK) before things could go bad. I know things with cars could go bad at any time, but I'm just looking to be PROACTIVE rather than REACTIVE with these things. Thanks so much guys

its a 99 with a 1.8t in it. Chipped, zaust, and CCAI other than that, nothing major has been done to the engine. The dealer said the cams needed to be replaced, and I denied them doing it because I just wanted to see what info I could gather from here first. Like a price range I should be paying, or if I can do them myself, etc.
