Hello everyone. I am new to the forums and have a question. I have a 99 a4 quattro that keeps coming up with a P0501 code. (Speed sensor Range/Performance). When the clutch was replaced the speedo stopped working and the light came on. We thought that the sensor may have been broken or faulted in some way. The sensor was replaced, but the speedo still does not work and the code is still coming up. Does anyone have any ideas on what else it could be? Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

There might be a shaft below where the sensor mounts? It may be broke. I'm not sure if these cars have that or not. I haven't messed with the VSS on this car.

 

I'm not sure either. I will have to take a look this weekend. The funny thing is that the code is not stating a sensor malfunction, just a range/performance problem, whatever the heck that means. Thanks.

 

i had that code before... and i heard thats due to our stock tires being rated at 130 mph... mine went off when i did 135 mph... not sure tho
