Default Speedo Clocks Change

Hi All. I will be changing my full set off clocks on my 2.8 auto in the next couple of weeks due to fault in the display. I am told that I need to reprogramme the clocks into the car else the car will not even start. Can this be done with VCDS-Lite or do I need something a bit more substantial. Any help appreciated.

Thanks all

you mean the center display is pixelated. You can have that repaired vs replacing the whole thing

No its a bit more than that. Pixels started to disappear down the sides, but now has gone altogether. Quotes £150 repair over here...

That's a decent price for a repair... I'm guessing you found a donor cluster as a full swap. The mileage reading cannot be altered as well. I also assume you are speaking of calibrating the speedometer. The car should still run, it just won't give you proper reading. You may have an immobilizer considering the region you're in.

Yes, immobiliser. I can get a set of clocks, fully working for £40 and mileage about 10k different to mine (137 on new and 148 on mine), but will it start ????

Thats a great deal for a full cluster! without the immobilizer programmed it won't work, good news tho you can have it programmed or defeated.

Ross-Tech: VAG-COM: Immobilizer 2 ECU Swapping

if that doesn't work a few people can do it the hard way for a fee, i think the deals charges 200 and you have to buy new keys, but people on the forums usually do it for 50.
