Hello,

Hopefully someone here can tell me what is going on with my car. I have a 97 2.8 A4.Every time I start the car, I can hear it turn, then complete silent for a few seconds andfinally the engine would start. It doesn't matter if it's in the morning or coming out of the store an hour later.I'm not getting anyCEL. The owner before me hadtaken the car in for a recall on the ignition switch. I thought ithas to be one of the following.

1. starter problem?
2.ignition coil problem?

Has anyone experience this problem before?

Are you saying that when you turn the key on to start the engine the starter kicks over then stops, preventing you from starting the engine? Or does it just take a second for the starter to engage after turning the key?

 

Yes, the starter kick over then stops for a few second and then kick again to start the engine. I had to hold the key to the on postion the hold time. Sorry, I can't explain the problem clearly.

 

there are 2 recalls on the ignition. the second one deals with your prob. my key got stuck on the start position and caused a lot of prob. all fixed under the recall.

 

yeah that should be covered under the recall.
