stereo help

Default stereo help

I have a 97 Audi a4 1.8t and my stereo is stuck in safe mode and I Dont know the code to unlock it. And there is no owners manual to help me out. Does anyone know the code? Please help

Do a search on here. You have to have the VIN, the stereo serial number (which you have to pull the stereo out to find), then ask the dealer, or some crazy **** like that. It sucks though. I'd let you try mine, but the wifey took the car to work today.

Yeah my buddy said to go to forums first before going to dealers to save a couple bucks.

I was able to call my local dealer, they put me into contact with a national Audi number (I no longer have the number), but with my VIN and the S/N off the head unit, they provided me with the CODE... Your local dealer can do it for a minimal fee.

Yeah, screw the dealer. I'm sure you can find it elsewhere for free.

Yeah, I mean all I need is the code. I know how to put it in and stuff.

When I had to get my radio code I actually went to a VW dealership; they were able to get me the code for free with the VIN, proof of ownership, and the radio serial number. It may depend on the dealership from what I hear, other people I've talked to have been charged through the teeth for the code ($100+!!)
