And still unreliable for over 350whp imo. Waste of money.

 

Anyone that I've ever read about upgrading their tranny by levelten has had an issue. The tranny might be rock solid after an upgrade, but it will shift like a school bus and you'll eventually hate life and wished you sold your car for a manual. Thats the consensus that I have gathered after reading up on it over the years.

 

^^^ exactly. And what is levelten chargin nowadays? $3-4k for the tc & vb? That's enough to get a newer manuel and lose $$$ on selling your AT. That's why I won't do anything to my tip. Just wait out the winter and get a 6MT

 

Plenty of them have running BT and BAT's on the tip for some time now. I have a customer that just upgraded his setup once again and will now be running a fully built 2 liter and GT35r on his tiptronic. He posts on Audiworld.

 

When we installed a new stock clutch in my wife's A4, I was pretty disappointed in that I can't break the tires loose (Z rated tires) on dry ground no matter how I tried. Looks like it would just slip... Her car is putting out around 160hp to the wheels per my Gtech pro. The results of this are on par with a "Dyno Dynamics" dyno.

 

Well the stock clutch was never meant to launch hard or hold anything more then chip power. It uses a pressure plate rated at around 1300 ft lbs and a disk with organic material on both sides. Most aftermarket clutch kits only use organic on one side or none at all and pressure plates that are rated at 1800-2200 ft lbs.

 

Yeah, but the stock clutch should STILL be able to make the tires chirp on a hard launch. My 1991 Eagle Talon AWD stock, could make the tires chirp at launch.

Not bad, now try that on a surface that isn't covered in dust. A shop floor isn't exactly designed to have good traction.

Yes but once the car tries to hook the clutch will end up slipping since it is the weak link in the driveline. I have been drag racing A4's for 8 years with everything from chip to 600whp. My stock clutch held up just fine with just a standard K03 chip, but once we pushed the K03 to 250chp with a custom GIAC tune the stock clutch would not hold a hard launch. With an upgraded clutch I was able to run 14.29 at 97 mph.

The DSM awd is much different then the A4 torsen. The DSM uses the haldex system which is the setup Audi uses for the TT and R32.

 

Ya if there were more traction it couldn't do it lol but it was fun for me and I had left the e-brake on on accident so it could have been slightly better still.
