Default Strange boost problem

When at full throttle I can feel solid boost up until it redlines. When I'm at about half throttle, I feel boost kick in at about 1 sec. intervals which gets annoying since this is my DD. I hear the turbo whine start and stop each time too in case you were wondering. Also when at half throttle, when the boost kicks in at around 2700rpm it feels way too strong which I don't think is normal. What could most likely be the problem? n75,turbo,wastegate? TIA.

sounds like the spring in the waistgate is letting out early or not letting out when it should

Ok thanks. So I guess the cheapest route to try first is getting a new n75? Also, do k03 wastegates only come built in with the turbo or can you buy them separately? I hope I don't need a whole new turbo.

Every K03 I've seen is internally wastegated. I'd not worry about a K03 and upgrade to the K04

I agree with it being the n75/wastegate spring. You can buy that wastgate actuator as a separate piece from ECS: http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B5_A4-...tegate/ES3468/

Thanks for those good ideas. I didn't think about calling a junkyard and that's where I got my TT DV for 25 bucks. I'll make a call tomorrow. Thanks again.

Well, I can say that it's definitely perfect for holding stock boost. I don't know if the stock one's are made cheap or way too weak for the b5 since I had a major boost leak. I've had it for almost a year and it's held up well. I don't plan on getting a chip or going BT. Just maybe getting a k04 when my k03 dies. If you plan on upping your boost levels to pass 225hp. then a forge 007 or equivalent would be a good idea.
