Default sub and amp install

hey guys,i tried to research this but couldnt find what i was looking for so i'm here to ask. im trying to install my sub and amp on my 99.5 A4 and i got everything wired up but no bass from my sub. the protect light is lit up on the amp but the power light is not. so it appears the amp is actually getting power just no sound from the sub. Where is the best place for my gound on the amp with the amp being in the trunk. thanks for any help solving my problem here it is much appreciated

if you getting the protect light it kind of sounds like you grounded out a power cord. Your amp shouldn't be in protect mode without a big issue.

Do you have an aftermarket deck? or you using a stock deck?

check your power cord to the amp - if it got grounded out it will put the amp into protect mode. Also make sure you didn't cross the power & ground connections, I've seen that before.

my power cord isnt ground out to anything and the connections are on the correct places on the amp. this leave me with the remote wire correct, i just have it spliced into the remote wire comming off the deck. its been a long time since i've installed a system but i thin i got that right
