Sub options
About a week ago I had a 10" Kicker put in my car. The sales guys convinced me to cut a hole in the rear deck and have it coming through there, laying flat like the speakers do. He told me the box would only hang down a couple inches into my trunk and I wouldn't lose trunk space. That really wasn't the case. It takes up quite a bit of my trunk and I'm starting to regret my decision. What options, if any, do I have so I can keep the sub and regain some of my trunk space?
PS- Its the Kicker 08TS10L54 sub and it has been taken out of the box it came in.

I'm not too sure about this since I don't know the real calculations for size of box which equals to best sound but I believe you'll still be able to use the subwoofer without having the box. So basically you're using your whole trunk as the box. If you do this though, chances are you wouldn't be getting the best sound quality out of the subwoofer.
I would say another option would be to make your custom box, small enough so you will have the space you wanted in your trunk. Again, this will probably decrease the quality of sound you'll be getting.
If you're willing to remove the subwoofer from rear deck, I would suggest installing the subwoofer in place of your jack and CD changer. I would say this is the most efficient install I've seen on the B5 since you'll be getting all of your trunk space.

What I did for my trunk space is quite different. Its on the inside of the trunk hanging down from the rear deck. I made my own fiberglass box mold to the inside of the rear deck in the trunk, so I still have about 92% of my trunk space. You could always look into hiding it somewhere out of the way, or you could box it into the jack compartment like kriptonik eluded to. However, I dont know what size your sub is, how big the magnet is and all that.
I would suggest trading it for something smaller size if you want trunk space and picking up a rear deck without a hole so it looks cleaner.
Good luck!
