no don't cut them lol. i don't know of any way to lower without buying new stuff. one thing you could do is add weight lol. the cheapest setup you can find is vmaxx sold on stratmosphere. it's about 650 or so for the whole set, front and back. i really don't recommend them though because manufan had them for 6 months and the threads were rust locked. and yes he did use antiseize. i'd either find a used set of pretty good ones or just bite the bullet.

well im thinking im going to go with these

because i really dont want any different suspension
so because i like the way my car handles right now
i just want it lower
i cant stand the look of our stock ride height

well he was kinda kidding, one wat that ricers can lower there cars is to cut the springs or they will also heat the springs so they loose there springiness.
As for your set-up if you buy just springs you will run the risk of premature shock blowing, which will cost you bank down the road. I would suggest at a minimum you'll need sport shocks on any drop (even though some guys will run stock shocks fine and not have issues)
the thing with Vmaxx is that they are basically the same spring rate as stock springs so they are a very comfy ride and I'm not sure how much it snows in Idaho, but if you are in a climate where you don't have a lot of salt to corrode the metal, then they souldn't freeze up to bad.
Honestly though if you are moving out, I would just live with the 4x4 status and live with it.(one reason I don't have my car slammed yet.. I can use that extra grand somewhere else productive like on a trip to Europe). but that is just my 19 year old perspective.

you actually like the stock a4 handling? i personally think it's too loose. i drove upstatenya4's with s4 springs and it was amazing. the vmaxx would be the closest to stock feel but you'll def get better handling if you aftermarket. you'll probably feel a bit more vibrations but i think it'll grow on ya
