Default Suspension Question

I have a 2001 A4 2.8Q. I would like to firm up the suspension a bit but don't want to go overboard. I am looking for suggestions. Should I do just springs, or springs and shocks, switch to coilovers, replace the sway bars?

I would like to get the feel that the stock sport package would have given.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

The rest of the car is totally stock to date....

best thing for handling is a sway bar, espacially a beefier one ont h rear to help combat understeer, as for the suspension itslef just get some bilstien shocks with H&R spings, over all cost should be about a grand but overall its potent and and fairly cheap considering it does help.

actually something even cheaper is find an audi with the sportss package and get the shocks and spring off that (you can swap the springs later) and just get a neuspeed front and rear sway bar this is also potent although the sports suspension isnt uber stiff and the neuspeed sway bar can be adjusted. overall almost half the price of the other setup.

I saw some used H&R coilovers on ebay today for ~$400

I'm looking into doing this as well, let us know what you end up with.

STaSIS coilovers. They may be $1095, but they're oh so incredible when you touch up other suspension parts, like sway bars and differentials.

But really, if you want great handling, pick yourself up a set of rubbers. Tires are by far the best upgrade you can commit to.
