Default TAP Chip. issue

Is anyone runnin a T.A.P. Total Audi Performance Chip on there 1.8T? Curious, because I bought my 99 with the chip in there and I am not sure which octane the chip runs with. I have always had a problem with my fuel/air ratio and wonder if my ECU is to blame. Could it be that the chip is for 91 octane and when i put 87 i run lean?

Um... You can't run 87 on an Audi anyway! You will have issues every time you do. At least 91 stock. If your chipped it's most likely 93octane

technically u probably aren't going to hurt your car by putting 87 in your tank, but you should be putting in atleast 91 octane burns longer, and with the 87 your having early detonation.

depending on the area ur from the chip will be a 91 or 93 octane.

yeah runs like crap on 87. do you think that the 91 octane on a 93 octane program could cause a mis-fire?

Man - you need to just run what your program calls for. Ask them and they'll tell you I bet.

yup i run a TAP chip. you should definitely be using 91/93 octane. thats true even when running a stock chip too, but the downsides are much more apparent when chipped

nah, im pretty sure the misfire is not caused by the lack of octane.

read this, most likely u have a bad coil pack, maf, or 02 sensor if your having misfires.

do u have flashing cel?

i have random misfires at full throttle, could this be because I don't run 93 octane i have been using 91? I have replaced all coil packs, both o2 sensors, MAF, and I have denso sparks.

Low octane is a likely culprit if you're mapped for a 91 octane. And if you're mapped for 93 and you're putting 91 in there won't be any misfires or stuttering, but it won't be power efficient. If you're in the west coast then your fuel is junk anyway.
