Lol i Know I can get a deal on some sport shocks within six months and I will probably get a job within that time also.... and why will they only last 6 months I will only be doing around 4-5k miles a year at the most until I am 18... so with that said can I get a miles per blown shocks instaid of time...

6 months was my guess, just from normal driving wear and tear. 4-5k a year isnt too bad, so i would have no miles per, blown shock.

Its just your shocks are already under stress, then you lower the springs, and your ride height is set to 1.4 or 1.7 inches lower, and your stress will be even more. Which you stock shocks arent totally built for.

I've done springs and shocks, albeit not on my A4 (just yet). It was for my last car so it may be like comparing apples to oranges but.....
as long as you aren't afraid of the job, have ALL the required tools (spring compressor just to name a biggie if you are going to use the same shocks) and a Factory Service Manual, you should be able to pull it off in the better part of a day. Like I said I haven't done the A4 just yet so I don't know if it varies pretty far from my old car (Dodge Neon)

If you wait and get the Teins and say Bilstein Shocks you should be able to just swap out the old with the new (i.e. no need to have the spring compressor) and should cut down on the install time. Again maybe someone who has actually done their own can better inform you. I plan on doing my own when the weather gets warmer so if you still haven't done it by then I'll let you know.

Spring compressor, not shock compressor. I still don't understand why everyone on AF lowers with springs.....

Again, if you are planning on keeping the stock springs, they will more than likely be under load when you take the assembly out. You use the spring compressor to assume that load so you can dissipate it evenly to safely take apart the assembly. If you just unbolt everything the spring will no doubt shoot off and it will cause serious damage if it hits you.

Here's what on looks like:

You can maybe rent them at the auto store or buy them online, you can find a pretty good deal on them. Off hand I saw that Amazon had a set for $28 bucks.

Remember like I said before, this can be a job you can do yourself, IF you have the right tools and a complete how-to on installing it.

You can also do half the work and take the old setup out, run to the mechanic and have him compress the spring and remove it for you, though I don't know how much it would be , it should only take them like a couple minutes to do each spring, (they usually have a wall mount spring compressor, it's nice to have expensive tools) and shouldn't run you too much. You should then be able to take the broken down assembly back home and put the new springs on without the use of the compressor (because they are lowered they will already be compressed over stock). A bunch more running around but hey, you will know what is best.

Default A sad sad conclusion

Well I am deciding against them because I dont know how to put them on, I cant afford sports shocks, and my parents said I need to get a job before I can spend my money on my car. Thanks for the help anyways... ohh and I will probably just buy shock/spring kit instead so I will be back with another post about this in hopefully under 6 weeks
