Default Testing out some new oil

So, I just fixed my oil pressure problem that I posted about earlier.I got a BG Flush and changed over to Royal Purple HPS 5W30. Not a single issue so far and no oil pressure light!

Now I know everyone here is going to yell at me for not putting VW/AUDI approved oil into my car, but honestly I've heard amazing things about the zinc additives they put in oil. Not only that but a professional driver also had a SLIGHT influence on me after he showed me his 500 hp B5 A4 and said he swears by this stuff.

What do you guys think? I've heard fairly good reviews and I will keep everyone posted on how it does, but my oil pressure light is no more and idle is smoother and throttle response has improved along with pull.

So 10W/40 was too thin and 5W/30 wasn't?

Mobil1 0W-40, not Mobil 10W-40. That tripped me up too

I run M1 0w-40 and I like it a lot. I see no issue running Royal Purple fluids, plenty of people swear by them and they do make good ****.

There I added a little trademark symbol to the end of Mobil 1 lol. Sorry for the confusion.

CCA4 : Yeah I liked the Mobil 1 also. And when I got the oil pressure light come on my heart sank, but I have no sign of oil sludge he said, so I'll be fine. Dodged a bullet. Lucky I may have gotten one of the very few 1.8T previous owners that ignored the Audi OCI suggestion...PHEW.

I've had my valve cover off and I think the original owner took pretty good care of mine as well. Me thinks I should be investing in an oil pressure gauge...

5w30 is thinner at operating temperature than 0w40.

thtas what i dont get. most people switch to a thicker oil when trying to get rid of oil pressure issues. im thinking about trying 15-50 next summer
