Default thinking about going with GT28R.. Questions on settings.

hey guys i've been contemplating for a while either to go with a bt or stay with the stock turbo. and i think i might want to go for a bigger turbo that doesn't require too much upgrade on other parts. gt28r sounds good to me. now i have some questions on the price and what parts i need to upgrade. i've been reading threads but i need to know exact numbers and parts...

i looked up gt28r and it is $935.
my guess is that i probably need a "400HP Garrett High Density Intercooler Core w/ATP Cast End Tanks" which is $449

well before i go buy that turbo i was going to get the apr exhaust system ($999) and carbonio intake ($380). apr exhaust has 2.5" diameter and comes with a downpipe. would this be big enough for a gt28r turbo? because i know you need 2.75-3" exhaust for gt28rs but i wasn't sure if 2.5" would be fine for gt28r.

and what other stuff do i need exactly? i have a 2001 A4 1.8TQ tiptronic. all i've done is GIAC 91 octane programming, forge007 bpv, and suspension.

injectors? do i need to get pipes for that fmic? and what would the price be? i'm not going for the best of best parts but i want to buy legit parts. no e-bay cheep crap.

thanks guys i'd appreciate your help.

www.034motorsports.com

Go on there and give them a call. Tell them your power goals and the price you want to spend, they'll tell you everything you need to know.

For a full GT28R you'll need (off the top of my head): turbo, exhaust mani, tuning, injectors, exhaust, fmic, custom intake, etc.

2.5" exhaust would be too small, you want 3". 034 sells one.

oh, and read this threaD:

A gt28r kit will cost you just shy of $4k and then another $500-1000 for a ic and then another $800-1000 for clutch.

my guess is that i probably need a "400HP Garrett High Density Intercooler Core w/ATP Cast End Tanks" which is $449 buy any reputable fmic for around 500 to 1000

well before i go buy that turbo i was going to get the apr exhaust system ($999) go custom, cheaper and carbonio intake ($380) not worth the money. apr exhaust has 2.5" diameter and comes with a downpipe. would this be big enough for a gt28r turbo? because i know you need 2.75-3" exhaust for gt28rs but i wasn't sure if 2.5" would be fine for gt28r. 3" is better.

You'll have to fab up something, the carbiono intake wont even work with a BT.

Search around Audizine (maybe here too) for pictures of peoples intake setups to see how they did it.

^not necessarily, it'll work with any of the elims, but not with any turbo with a sidemount manifold
