Default Thinking About PES SC

So I have the money to do the switch (I think), but with that much of a HP increase, is it advisable to get a stronger tranny for my 2.8 FWD?

I have an AT. The only reason I am not too sure about the financial portion of it is because I don't know what sort of modifications I am going to have to do to the engine and to the tranny to be able to support such a power increase. The finances are the least of my worries at this point.

which you looking at the G1 or G2... the G1 can be intercooled. also what year is your 2.8 the Supercharger was only made for the 98+ if you have a 96/97 its a 12v which means no supercharger. idk how much boost they push but i know if you go over 12psi i think your going to start getting into trouble..

For the amount of power that the PES tune puts out you will be safe for the most part on a stock Tip. You'll definetely feel a big difference with a GIAC tip chip and a new VB & TC would be RECOMMENDED but not required. This also has a lot to do with the way you drive it and what conditions your hardware is already in. If it hasnt been well maintained and lubed then you may run into problems.

I have a '98 30v 2.8 so I am in the clear there, but I don't know the advantages/disadvantages to the G1 or the G2. I wasn't even aware that there were two versions. I probably need to do more research before I go spending money, but IMO, it's easier to have you guys give me your opinions because frankly, y'all just know more than me.

I am not familiar with the acronyms you're using, but I have looked into the GIAC tip chip and the other chip by GIAC on AWE Tuning's website, but don't know which to get, if I do decide to get one. I like the idea of "superbike" type shifting that has been reported on the GIAC tip chip, but don't know much more than that. The way I look at it, if I am going to drop this much money on a performance mod, I want to be able to feel it.
