Default Timing Belt????

Hello,
I bought my Silver Audi B5 01 in September 07 with 96k miles on it. Now there is 106k miles and I am questioning whehter or not I have to replace my timing belt and water pump and tensioner, etc. I know the owners manual says replace it at 105 but I've done everything in my power to see if it has already been changed or not. I havent looked in the engine becuase I dont know where it is located. Will my car display any symptoms before it breaks? Can I look under the hood somewhere to find out whether it has been changed or not? What do yall think?

if you don't have the documentation, then there is no way of knowing....

most people change their timming belts around 80k

sounds like your timing belt is due to break anyday now

there will be no warning, one second it will be running normally, and the next second you will need to have your motor re-built

I would tell you to take care of it asap...try to drive it the least you can

hopefully you can either get it into a shop or DIY over the weekend

well, gl!

if you decide to DIY...there's some helpful stuff at

Yeah Im going to bee fucked if I dont do something quick. My goal is to have it done by the weekend. When i start my car and it is idling if i have something like clothes on the passenger seat they will shake just noticeably. Maybe thats from my timing belt?

yeah i would suggest doing the timing belt right away... i almost F-ed my engine in the ay because when i had mine done it was really close to breaking and one of the pulleys had somehow gotten a little sideways and part of it broke in the block and they had to get a someone in a weld shop down the street to get it out... not a good deal

Have the cover, in front of the valve cover, removed.
This is for a 1.8t. Look at the belt. Can you clearly read
lettering on the belt? If so, it probably was replaced.

thats overkill. 70k for the old tensioner and 80k for the updated ones is good
