Which timing belt kit???

Default Which timing belt kit???

Hi everyone! I just got my 2001 audi a4 1.8t quattro last week. Now im currently looking into buying a timing belt kit at ecs. Only question i have is which kit should i buy and what does the awm or aeb-atw mean? how do i find out which one is mine? thanks!

If you have an 01 1.8t your engine code is AWM

Engine codes are available in the FAQ sticky

As far as timing belt kits, I think you should go with the kit from Blauparts. It's cheaper and comes with more stuff. You are gonna need your VIN though, as 2001 was a half model year.

get the all in one kit usualy the most expensive so you will have everything there and you wont need to run to the store

is it worth it to get the timing belt tool kit also? or can i do without?

most people say it is but other say its not if this is your first time doing a timing belt than i say do it but if you know what your doing you dont need it

I did mine a couple months ago with the full kit from blauparts (just under $300 bucks, and I highly recommend it). Also, I rented the tool kit with no issue with the return or anything, and my deposit was returned to by CC promptly. I only used a couple tools out of the tool kit, but I would have had a really hard time trying to manage without it. IMHO, it was worth the couple of bucks to rent it...
