Which Timing Belt Kit is best?
Hey guys, I've been scourging the forums for the past few hours but I haven't found a thread that gives me a definite answer as to who carries the best Timing Belt Replacement Kit for the 1.8Ts, so I was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction.
So far I am looking at 3 different vendors... (I'm looking for quality and completeness of a kit over saving a few bucks, btw)
- Pure Motor Sports
Their kit seems to be pretty standard; however, they include a "Relay Roller" and claim that barely anyone else includes these... Now, what is a Relay Roller and is it important enough that I should go with these guys' kit?
- Blauparts
Their kit has a whole bunch of stuff, plus they rent the tools... I don't really need the coolant as I flushed the system just a few months ago, but hey, don't hurt to have more. They also recommend (and I'll get) the Serpentine Arm & Pulley along with the A/C Tensioner Pulley. I'm personally rooting for these guys, if anyone objects, please let me know why.
- ECS Tuning
They claim to have the most complete kit, but it's pretty much the same as the other guys, except for the Lightweight Pulley, which I don't want. ECS Tuning is quite reputable, are their parts any better and the kit more complete than the other guys?
Please guys, help me out, I need some direction and reasoning... I'm rooting for blauparts but I am really curious about the Relay Roller.
Thank you in advance.

All 3 are reputable kits, and it really boils down to personal preference and price. I went with the blauparts kit when i did mine. I've always liked blauparts for some reason, and i generally buy my parts from them as they offer quality products at decent prices. I got my control arm set from them as well - good company

I'm not sure what it is as i've personally never heard of it. Maybe another member can chime in
Oh by all means get back at me on that one... Which kit did you get?
hit up user Mike-2ptzero. I believe he can recommend one, and get you a competitive price on it.
