Default timing belt tensioner

I need to do a timing belt change and all the necessary part that come with it.
My mechanic told me that he doesn't know if my model goes with as he called hydralic or mechanical timing belt tensioner, and that the first option is much more expensive.
Is there a way to know this without dismantling the whole front section and visual inspection? He told that the chassis and motor number can't tell this information.

my model is A4 from 1996, 1.8 92kw 125hp ADR motor

Appears to still be hydraulic.
