Screw your K04 Josh, I'm going to go big!

Btw, how come you haven't made it to any of NWQ's GTGs? We miss you

Edit: Cincy, http://www.034motorsport.com/product...roducts_id=671 look good for a 57trim? It has the 4bolt exhaust and a stage 3 turbine, plus I can select for it to have the .63 a/r ratio!

if i were you, i would get a .48 50 trim. the 71r elim with all supporting mods made 243 AWHP @18psi and then later the guy made 265 AWHP (might have been corrected?). A 50 trim will give you more power than this and a much better powerband. not to mention cheaper
are you serious? AriF made 293whp on a 71r. And there are tons of people on AZ who have dyno'd 300+ whp on the 71r.

The only reason i mentioned the 57trim is because it will make a little more power at lower boost and people still sell them for less since they are less efficient/popular than the 50trim. The 57trim isnt good for higher boost on a 1.8t since it will sure at around 22-24psi. Since in your case i dont see you boosting abot 18-20psi, it will be fine.

Here is a place you can get the turbo for $575 http://www.pwrhaus.com/products.html#garrett57trim

A 50 trim makes the same power with less boost and about the same spool (depending on turbine housing) not to mention a full 50trim setup ischeaper also.

It surges around 22-24psi? No worries, I won't be boosting that high. But boosting 18-20psi should be fine for it?

Also, do I need the same outlet and the same turbine as the 50trim?

very serious. the only dyno i could find was this

which was done at 18psi. you want to up the psi, bump the timing a bit, and run a higher octane, then yeah you could get higher numbers, but a 50 trim will still make more power. also notice on the dyno the power starts falling off before 6k. now here's a 50 trim done at 22psi-

more power and doesn't fall off

You wont have any problems there. It should make the same power as the 50trim at 1-2psi less in the 20psi range. Its just when it starts to flow more air, the engine cant keep up.

The 2 turbos are exactly the same but the compressor wheel. So yes, you want the same things.

you used Jasons dyno . The thing about that is the tune was crap compared to Tapp/Uni now. But do take into account that was a GTI dyno

Cincy, the 57trim .63 has enough for a 500hp flow; is that going to be too much on my engine, if I want to boost it 20psi?

I was thinking of getting a high-flow exhaust manifold to allow the .63 to spool up a tad bit quicker, that way I can avoid having to get the .48 and keeping decent low-end power.

You will need a new high flow manifold anyways

At 18-20psi, you will make good power, but the tq wont be so bad. The powershould be another 10-15whp more than a 50trim at those levels
