1999 audi a4 1.8t quattro.... which is better? Im going to look at this car but it has tiptronic automatic transmission. Im debating. please help me.

 

honestly... if u have to debate over a 5spee or an auto then u obviously dont LOVE driving a manual... get the auto

 

i love to get a 5 speed manuel but they seem hard to find. everywhere im looking as far as used audi a4's all they have are auto tiptronic. I just wanted to know the pros and cons of both thats all. I never owned a tiptronic and i havent really heard anything about them but i want to know the pros and cons of both.

 

oooh well honestly from what ive heard... if anything ever goes wrong in the tranny department, the auto is a bigger pain in the *** to replace or fix.. me personally i didnt do any research, i just waited till i found a 5speed... no issues yet, so im happy lol

 

tip is pretty much just an auto. I use it 70% of the time though.. No complaints and less likely to get screwed up, but if it does...it will be more expensive. Havent heard any issues from anyone else though.

 

oh ok. yea ok i will just wait. if i cant find an audi 5 speed then i will get a gti 1.8t.

 

how does the tip gears differ from the manual gears? hypothetically speaking, which would win in a race... the 5 speed manual or the tip? =)

no offense to you... but if we both had the same car u had auto i had manual, i'd win lol.... ive been driving and racing manual trans for a loooong *** time... well i used to... but i can out drive pretty much anyone (without an extensive race background pro/amatuer)

 

haha. im just saying.... i love to have me an audi. ive always wanted one and a 5 speed manual anyways.
