Hey guys, so I am just curious what tools you guys use the most, or what tools you guys feel are absolutely necessary to have in your tool box when you own a B5 A4 and are a broke DIY'er

I am going to try to acquire most of the tools needed for most DIY jobs on our cars, or try to at least I'm sure I can't afford all of them...

torx socket set. Pretty much need for every single repair on the car.

 

Torx/triple square socket set, metric socket set, metric allen socket set including 8mm for the brake carrier bolts and 17mm for the axle bolts, 17mm crow's foot wrenches for the turbo hot side nuts, and for the love of gawd, buy a jack so you don't have to use the widowmaker to put the car on jack stands.

so far I am in agreement with everything here. CCA4 pretty much nailed it, though I have yet to need my triple squares (okay maybe needed but have not used yet)

 

One place I ran into the triple-square already was the fuel filter.
