Default trouble at the pump?

Does anyone ever have problems pumping gas in your audi? Most gas stations i can only pull the handle of the gas pump to the first notch which is the slowest flow speed or the pump shuts off. It almost feels like the car cant take the amount of fuel the pump can deliver on the highest setting. my friends bmw also has this problem at some places so im wondering if its a european car thing or what?

Yeah idk it seems like it depends on the pump for me, it happens sometimes and other times it doesnt. What helps is pulling the nozzle out a little bit then you can increase the speed of the pump. Idk if its just a european thing, my parents cars do it occasionally too.

the gas system has a purge valve that controls the pressure in the tank. it's probably just stuck closed which triggers the gas station's pump to shut off. i have the same problem but not that severe. try filling it with the nozzle slightly out.

when i first got my car it did the same thing. for some reason it went away, but now that i think about it i always fill up while my car is idleing, and that purge valve is only open at idle so maybe that has something to do with it.
