Default Trying to understand an Audi Drivetrain.

How is the quattro system controlled? I know the auto trans is TCM controlled, but does that same computer controll how the power divided? Or is that a seperate system? Is it even computer controlled, or is it mechanical?

Just trying to get an idea of how it works,

thanks!

Early years are mechanical I believe, later years are computer controlled. There's so much more to it obviously, but that's the bare minimum.

Front/rear power split (by center diff) is Torsen. Front and rear diffs are EDL which are normally open but can be tricked into doing what the ECU wants by application of brake to the appropriate wheel.
