turbo set up help
I need some help with what setup I should go. I did as much research as possible before posting this.
My car is a 1.8t front track 5 speed
according to the book my car has 150hp and 160tq stock
my car is completly stock and want to keep it stock specs as much as possible.
From what I found out on these forums ko3 turbo set up gets 220hp? and ko4 250 hp? is this with the aggressive programming? what set up to obtain these powers?
I just want to know that is it worth upgrading to the k04 turbo or should I just keep my stock ko3 and running an aggressive ecu set up?
how much power (estimate) will I get with an aggressive ecu for the k03? if i run an aggressive program do i need to upgrade fuel injectors or pump? is it bad to max out the ko3 turbos?
Also I want to know how much power (estimate) will i get with ko4 turbo and an aggressive program. do i need to upgrade fuel injectors or pump for this set up? also is it bad to max out the ko4?
I already have plans to order a clutch setup to handle a little more power.
I know this is a paragraph and a half to read, but if anyone can help me with information, my a4 would be grateful!

From what I've read on here before, the K04 swap simply isn't worth the money, as in not much HP per dollar spent. Try looking into a GTRS elim, which might cost a little more, but would have better power gains, but not so much that the FWD couldn't handle it.
I'm pretty sure though, that if you did this, you would need to upgrade your injectors, possibly the FPR, and get a good aggressive tune. A decent FMIC would be very benificial too.
As for the GTRS elim, you can find package deals all over the place with injectors and software included, along with everything you need to install the turbo (which will still look stock because it's an elim).
Good luck, and have fun with the project...

What year is your 150hp A4 1.8t?
The most you will see out of a standard K03(150hp) is around 200hp on pump gas, most of the chips for the 150 A4 make less then 200hp. As for the K04 it really depends on what year and which tune you go for.
If your looking for power then the Elim kit would be the best option, with a GTrs/GT2871r elim kit you would be looking at around 330-350hp or around 290-300whp on pump gas. I have a few customers running an elim kit on their FWD A4 and love the power band.

I would be happy with 250 hp max. Im just looking to add some "*****" to my car to make up for the fact that its a non - quattro. That kit that your suggesting sounds expensive. So it sounds like a ko4 and a good chip tune would get the power i would want (225-250 hp) Would i need new fuel injectors for this set up or would stock ones work? but if im spending 900 buks on a ko4 are you saying i should just spend a little more for the elim kit?
and just curious what kinda of torque can i get out of the ko3 with good chip tune?
i have a 2000 a4 1.8t.

A K04 setup is going to cost you around $1600. A elim kit with tuning/injectors is going to cost you just under $3k.
Have to understand that a K04 is not going to be a huge jump from a K03, so you might feel that $1600 was wasted for maybe 20 more hp.
ok, well everything seems to make more sense now.
what is the best way to check your turbo to see if its still in working good condition? my car has 170,xxx miles on it and im pretty sure its the orginal ko3 in there. I guess if my ko3 is still in good working codition i would probably just buy a reputable company with aggressive chip tune to max out my ko3. I would be happy with just 200 hp and 243 tq (apr ecu) for only 500 dollars. is this an accurate qoute of power from apr? But if i need to replace my ko3 because its going out than i would do the ko4 with chip. awe tuning k04 upgrade kit is 1500 bucks ( 235hp and 265tq) i hope awe tuning is reputable and there power quotes is accurate. again i would only do this kit if my stock ko3 has crapped out.

I was very anxcious to get my car chipped. I couldn't wait to find out what the extra power felt like because I always thought my car just needed a little extra ummph.
Then one day, I found out I already have the APR chip installed, and my dreams were crushed. Trust me, chipped will feel better than stock, but it will leaving you want more...

hey i am running a k04 right now with the pc-16 file, and it feels a lot stronger than my chipped k03 car did... probbably the same increase as when i went from bone stock to chipping the k03 in the first place...
