Default Turn Signal Relay Fix!!!

Hey everyone. I really didn't know if I should have put this into the DIY or here, but this is the video I made explaining how to open up the module and clean the relay! Sorry, the camera did not auto-focus, but it's understandable what I am talking about if you have the relay in front of you.

BTW, this relay came out of a 2001 A4.

Also, I am not responsible for any damage that occurs during the process of removing and cleaning the module.

YOU CAN USE A FILE TOO!!! I just had a screwdriver handy.

Great vid! How do you get that out of your dash in the first place? Do you need a special tool to get it out of the dash? So this is a fix in case your turn signal is "sticking", correct?

I just pried off the cover on the dash. It's held on by clips, so with a tug of something like a dental pick, the plastic comes off. Them I used a pair of needle nose to pull the module out of its cubby hole. Yeah, if its sticking, this should fix it for you.

Great video! Thanks for making this DIY.

If you don't mind, I'll eventually move this into the DIY section to add to the collection we have. I'm leaving it here for now so people can see it.

Definitely worth the try before spending that $40 for a new relay.

Thumbs up freakin' brilliant, thank you

your easy to follow video and technique for just cleaning the contacts with a screw driver worked like a charm. I put some contact cleaner on the screwdriver too. Would have taken me hours to figure out the disassembly without the vid. The whole thing took 20 minutes following your directions. Free is a wonderful price for a repair.

Thanks again, cheers
Tim

Awesome man! GLad to hear it worked for you. The guys over at AudiWorld are pretty critical on the idea. I've grown to stay away from that forum, unfortunately. Glad it helped!

I already replaced mine but I still have the old one to give this a try and see if it's legit...
