Default Unique Power Steering Problem

Well, I have searched and I think its unique. I have the whining/whirring sound around the wheel (see vid), so I assumed that it was the power steering. So, with the car turned on I checked the levels of my power steering fluid and when I took off the cap the power steering fluid was BUBBLING! Is this normal? I have never seen it before.

What could be the problem? Please watch the video and verify that its my power steering if you can.

That's what my wife's B6 Avant sounded like when her power steering rack needed to be replaced. But her's was also leaking PS fluid like a sieve. Do you have any large puddles under the car?

probably a pinhole in one of the lines. there was a thread around here that mentioned the common places to look for PS leaks but I can't find it. Anyway, that would be my guess, you are pulling air in somewhere.

Default Try this...

With both front wheels off the ground (and with the engine off) turn the steering wheel to full lock (full left and full right) (12) times.

There might be some air in the power steering pump loop and this would clear that up.

Hope it works,
