Default unorthodox racing Lightweight racing flywheel

I picked up a UR lightweight flywheel, and my dad and my mechinic has told me that it'll kill my clutch and crap up my tranny? I'm getting a clutch job and wanted to replace the flywheel with this one cause i got a good deal on it. anybody have any stories or anything to share that would help me out thinking this through? The flywheel if installed will be paired with an OEM SACS clutch kit. will this destroy my clutch over time?

generaly light weight flywheels and puck style clutches have no use for street applications, either seperate or in combination. they make it absoloutely no fun to drive long distances or in heavy traffic.

O.E. flywheels require a solid disc design and the LW flywheels require a sprung disc design.

so yes, if your clutch isnt set up for the LWFW it causes problems.

i just recently replaced my clutch with a southbend stage 3 and lightweight steel flywheel, your gonna get some chatter. Mine is from 2000rpm-a little less than 3000rpm and it also depends on the load. Ghost is right you will need a sprung disc clutch which what my stage 3 is. You need to know what you power goals is also down the road and if you can deal with noise. An OEM dual mass is your best bet to eliminate noise and keep driveablility, but they are kind of pricey. The stage 3 is pretty much stock pedal feel but it is a pain in traffic.

You will get some chatter but not kill/ruin anything. You will also need to give it a little more gas to get it moving.
