Default Is using an older Dodge Cummins turbo a possibility?

I was kicking around at a junkyard the other day and came across a wrecked '02 Dodge Cummins turbo diesel - it had been rolled, but most of the engine components were OK.
My question:
Is the turbo off that truck usable in a "DIY"-type big turbo upgrade for a 1998 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro? I could probably get it for free.

It's possible. There's a guy runnin' around my area with a 4 banger Ranger that has a Holset off a Cummins. Word is is he's pushin' 32 lbs. under full throttle.

sounds like alot of fabrication...if you are a great metal worker/welder, go for it...if not...I would say don't even think about it....

It definitely does seem like quite a bit of work....I don't know, I might see if I can get if off the guy for dirt cheap and see if I can figure something out. I'm not particularly good with exhaust fabrication, but I know a guy who knows a guy. I'll have to ask around a bit. It sure is a tempting proposition.

Just talk to Mike@DTH about what you would need to do. I think his 1.8T is pushing 530 horse.

it's pushing 530 with a beat to **** turbo...he is going to be making alot more power when he gets his setup the way he wants it...

honestly...for all of the custom fab/custom tuning that this setup will need, you could just get a garret big turbo setup...

alot less hastle and time...

But with a Holset it'll be one of a kind! Some people are just such slackers!
