I want to get a Vag system i was wondering if anybody know a good place to get it and how much will it cost. I saw some vag cables on ebay for around 14 bucks but i dont know if those a credible and what i need. and also what program i need. so any help would be awsome!!

get an ebay cable, download either 409 or 311.. i use 311 and i really like it. pay the 100 to get the activation code.. its what i did.

 

311 is old school. the current version, which is 800 something i think, has so much more options, updated everything. its worth the $250 for the software + cable.

 

Its 805 now.

A real cable from ross-tech will do everything, a ebay and old sw will only do a few things like clear and read codes and log only the first few blocks. Thats enough for some, but not most

 

the ebay cable with do everything too, when you pay for the activation code..

805 is the newest and has nothing different for our cars. it was made so you can vag com newer stuff like b7-b8, bmw, bently's, etc.

311 and 409 will do EVERYTHING 805 will do for b5's. if you have a b6 then yes, you need can-bus and you HAVE to buy the ross tech cord for 280 to get 805. they dont do just the activation codes anymore.

thus what i have, will do more then i need for the cars i own and it was 115 bucks total.
